SOLD OUT – WEST BERKS RACE NIGHT

Back by popular demand, the West Berks Race Night will be held on SATURDAY, 4th MARCH, 2023.

Take your seats and have a pre-race tipple from 6.30 pm. The first televised race ‘The Willie Fall Derby’ will start at 7 pm prompt.

Tickets are £8 to include a Ploughman’s Supper and are available now from the Office/Bar and selling fast!

Members and their friends, family, children and grandchildren all welcome.

This is always a fun night and a good club fundraiser.  Why not dress for the occasion?

World Indoor Bowls Championships

Did you watch world indoor bowls on television and fancy having a go?

If so, we’d love to meet you! Indoor bowls is perfect to play in this cold weather. It’s friendly, inexpensive, helps keep you fit and you can try it out for FREE!

Bowls is a great social sport and an excellent way to get some exercise, get out of the house and meet new people, whatever your age or ability. You can play at your own level and at a time that suits you.

To help you make your mind up, we offer a FREE Taster session when you can come to the club, have a look round and play a few ends on the green.

We can’t promise you’ll be up to World Bowls standard, but you will get a feel for the game.

£25 MEMBER RECRUITMENT REWARD

A reminder to all Members that the £25 Club Recruitment Reward, which came into effect on 24th September 2022, is continuing. If you know of anyone interested in having a try at indoor bowls, then please invite them to OPEN WEEKEND for a FREE Taster Session and when they sign up to Full adult membership then you earn yourself £25 credit on your club card as a reward for introducing them (T&Cs apply).

WBIBC COACHING/RECRUITMENT UPDATE

Following our very successful Open Weekend, the Club now has over 60 new members currently undertaking the coaching course. A big thank you to Jack Messenger and his coaching team who are providing lessons on a Saturday morning from 9 – 11 am and on Mondays from 5 – 7 pm.

The next Open Day/Taster Session  is on Saturday, 7th January 2023 from 10 am – 2.00 pm and, with the help of our members, we hope to repeat the success of the September Open Weekend with another big intake of new members.

TRY INDOOR BOWLS FOR FREE!

NEW BEGINNERS COACHING COURSE – STARTS 14th JANUARY 2023

Bowls is a great social sport and an excellent way to get some exercise, get out of the house and meet new people, whatever your age or ability. You can play at your own level and at a time that suits you.

DON’T WORRY IF YOU MISSED OUR OPEN DAY ON 7TH JANUARY

The BEGINNERS COACHING COURSE starts on Saturday, 14th January from 9.00 am – 11.00 am and you are welcome to come and have a Taster then. Alternatively, if Saturday mornings are not convenient, we can offer coaching on Mondays at 5 pm. The course consists of 10 x 2 hour sessions for just £25 for a maximum of 3 months.

So please come and give bowls a try, whether you are new to bowls or perhaps you can no longer play your sport, but you’re still competitive.  All ages (over 9 yrs) and abilities welcome. Full disabled facilities. Equipment provided, no booking required, just bring flat soled shoes.

WBIBC ON CHANNEL 4

HOBBY MAN – CHANNEL 4, FRIDAY 2ND SEPTEMER AT 8.00 PM

Filming took place at the club in April for a new 4-part series now showing on Channel 4 called HOBBY MAN, starring Alex Brooker, Joe Thomas and Scarlet Moffatt.

The series follows Alex and his celebrity mates trying out new hobbies from brewing to bowls. The film crew spent all morning at the club when Angela attempted to give Alex and Joe a Taster session. There were lots of expletives as Alex tried to deliver a bowl, but he got it in the end. The episode will be shown on Friday, 2nd September at 8.00 pm. We haven’t seen a preview so who knows! Perhaps lots of out-takes?! Should be fun.
