WBIBC has great pleasure in hosting this ever popular 2-day national singles competition for the seventh time on Saturday, 4th and Sunday, 5th April 2026 – EASTER WEEKEND.
This is a great opportunity for all members to see some first class singles play by top bowlers from all over the country performing on our green.
Drop in any time over the weekend. The kitchen and bar will be open on both days.

*The OSC, run by the EIBA, is a circuit of club owned and run open singles events throughout the UK, where all the results from all the events earn the players ranking points which then contribute to the OSC Rankings List, culminating in the OSC Finals to be held at Potters Leisure Resort in November.
A fantastic two nights of bowling were enjoyed at the club this week, with the county singles and county fours winners decided on Tuesday, and the county pairs and triples winners crowned last night.
After two excellent displays, players representing West Berks came away with two of the titles, winning both of the finals we had involvement in.
On Tuesday, our fours team of Nik Elphick, Pete Sweeney, Mick Powell (Sub for Liam Creaser) and Michael Knight were comfortable winners, beating a Whiteknights quartet with ends to spare to claim the Berkshire fours championship.
On Thursday, Nik Elphick and Liam Creaser teamed up to claim the Berkshire pairs title. Although pushed hard by their opponents from Whiteknights, they always looked in control and went on to record a relatively comfortable victory.
Congratulations to all involved, a great couple of days for the club!
The annual West Berks Shield and Plate competitions will come to their conclusion on 12th April at 11am when the finals of each event will be contested!
In the Plate competition, Newbury will face Thatcham A. In the semi-finals, contested on 22nd March, Newbury enjoyed a 36-28 victory over Lambourn, whilst Thatcham A booked their place in the final with a 37-32 victory over Hagbourne.
In the final of the Shield, Shrivenham will take on Suttons A. The semi-finals were contested on 15th March, with Shrivenham advancing following a 37-32 victory over Reading. Suttons A enjoyed a slightly more comfortable victory to secure their place in the final, 38-19 over Tilehurst.
Congratulations to Shrivenham on winning the 2024/25 West Berks Shield and taking home a sizeable cheque for their club. Suttons A gave them a good game and it went down to the wire, which made exciting spectator viewing!
Congratulations also to Thatcham A on their success in winning the Plate over Newbury.
All the players enjoyed a superb buffet after the games and Cllr David Harman, Deputy Mayor of Newbury, presented the prizes.
Indoor Bowls is a great social sport and an excellent way to get some healthy exercise, get out of the house and meet new people, whatever your age or ability. At West Berks IBC you can play at your own level and at a time that suits you. Our club is thriving, currently has 590 members, and is open 12 months of the year.
Our next official OPEN WEEKEND is on Saturday and Sunday, 27th and 28th September, 2025 from 10 am – 2 pm with a new BEGINNERS coaching course starting on Saturday, 4th October.

West Berks Indoor Bowls Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) run by volunteer members for members. We are not-for-profit and anyone in our community, over the age of 9 years, can join our club. We have full disabled facilities and we welcome anyone regardless of age or ability. It’s never too late to take up a new sport/hobby!
Congratulations to the Men’s squad on beating Loddon Vale 72-71 in the Region Final of the Denny Plate. They now progress to the Quarter Final and play Falaise IBC (Hastings) for a place in the National Semi Final. All four rinks will be played on Saturday, 8th February at Donyngs IBC, Redhill RH1 1DP a neutral venue. 10.00 am start.
Unfortunately we were beaten by a stronger side but we wish Falaise IBC good luck in the next round.
