West Berks Shield and Plate Finalists Determined
The annual West Berks Shield and Plate competitions will come to their conclusion on 12th April at 11am when the finals of each event will be contested!
In the Plate competition, Newbury will face Thatcham A. In the semi-finals, contested on 22nd March, Newbury enjoyed a 36-28 victory over Lambourn, whilst Thatcham A booked their place in the final with a 37-32 victory over Hagbourne.
In the final of the Shield, Shrivenham will take on Suttons A. The semi-finals were contested on 15th March, with Shrivenham advancing following a 37-32 victory over Reading. Suttons A enjoyed a slightly more comfortable victory to secure their place in the final, 38-19 over Tilehurst.
Congratulations to Shrivenham on winning the 2024/25 West Berks Shield and taking home a sizeable cheque for their club. Suttons A gave them a good game and it went down to the wire, which made exciting spectator viewing!
Congratulations also to Thatcham A on their success in winning the Plate over Newbury.
All the players enjoyed a superb buffet after the games and Cllr David Harman, Deputy Mayor of Newbury, presented the prizes.
